In line with the theme ‘Enhancing technology in agriculture and industry for food security and national growth’, exhibitors from all over the country showcased a rich selection of exhibits representing all sectors of the economy with NITA Kisumu being in the frontline through enhanced Industrial training in the just concluded Kisumu Regional Show.

National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) participated and emerged second best in two categories respectively best middle level education institutional stand and best engineering based institution of higher learning during this year’s Kisumu ASK show that opened its gates to the public from 25th  to 31st July 2016 at the Mamboleo Show Ground. Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mr. Willy Bett officially opened the show.

The participation of NITA in the Kisumu Regional Show is in-line with the expansion efforts of awareness and education programmes by the Authority and Public Participation. By holding this exhibition, the Authority saw it as a milestone in enhancing its corporate image and identity to the public in the lake side region which is home to one of the Authority’s centers, NITA Kisumu.

The ASK remains very important forum for creating public awareness through interaction with various stakeholders on diverse Industrial training programmes. The large number of participants who visited the NITA stand provided an opportunity and a cost effective way of disseminating and gathering information on NITA’s Mandate to the public. Today, the Authority can boast of having expanded its participation in ASK shows in cities and major towns across the country i.e Kitale, Nakuru, Mombasa, Nyeri, Nairobi and Eldoret.

Trade test section had an opportunity to book in students who visited the stand and were up to beat the deadline. The Levy section received numerous employers who were willing to register with the Authority. The attachment section was frequented by a large number of students who were impressed by the ITAP system which made their application for attachment easier, other sections exhibited by NITA Kisumu included: Electrical, Mechanical, Automotive, ICT and Building.

Director General Mr. Paul Kosgei and Director, Industrial training Mr. Stephen Ogenga visited the stand and were impressed by the great work done by the team that made the Authority standout ; they reiterated that it was worth the victory. The Chief Guest, Kisumu Senator Prof. Anyang Nyon’go made a stop at the stand and was taken through NITA exhibits by the Authority’s Director General and was impressed by NITA’s Services at the Lake region.
